You connect from within the app itself by pressing the "Scan" button.

And if it still doesnt connect, you might need to update Meccanoids brain software like I had to. And thats a royal pain because you need to do that with a computer by first downloading and installing the "brain update" program on your computer!

Meccannos phone support took two unanswered calls and then one FORTY MINUTE CALL to get it all working.

The app is all about storing data that will move Meccanoid around. It has 3 parts: 1. 3D virtual Meccanoid that you move around with your finger. 2. Moving each joint with a virtual wheel. And you get to turn all the leds on and off. You can also select their colors. 3. Mirror mode that uses your phone to watch you so that Meccanoid mimics you while recording it.

Mirror mode was the most fun, but it was difficult to use. I had to be about 6 feet away and I could not see my tiny iPhone 5 too well from that distance. Also Meccanoid tended to crash his arms into himself constantly. Also there was s lot of jitter. The commercial cheated. It does not work that well.
